I like lists. Yes, yes I do.
I’ve got list love.
I’m list crazy.
I like lists because I’m not very good at staying focused. I get distracted, and forgetful, and overwhelmed. And I waste time, too. Sad fact.
All my wacky lists are simply the way I stay on track – actually, the way I even know what track to stay on! They help me remember what needs done without having to use much brainpower, and they give me something to mark off for a sense of accomplishment.
That’s why I have an Afternoon To Do List. It reminds me of the routine things that need done each day, and it keeps me moving in the right direction (when I’d rather not move at all!). Some days, I automatically do my list without even peeking at it. Other days, I have to put it in front of me all afternoon or I’ll do nothing but check my email and prowl around Facebook. (Another sad fact.)
To make an Afternoon to Do List, simply think of the things you need or want to do every day (I also list a few early evening chores). Include things like routine tasks, music practice for the kiddos, and things that will make the evening run better.
Here’s my current Afternoon To Do List:
—Weekly To Do List task
—Monthly To Do List task
–Finish and fold laundry
–Early dinner prep
–Kitchen and dishes cleaned up
–Prep for tomorrow
