I’m not sure who the marketing guru was who came up with the “store loyalty card” trend, but I’d like to shake his (or her) hand.
Then punch him (or her) right in the nose.
I’m not normally such a violent person, but the creator of the dozens of cards I carry around in my purse must be a diabolical genius. I half picture him (or her) wandering around a basement marketing lab with hundreds of Minions stamping bar codes on the backs of laminated cards from grocery stores and sporting goods shops.
I don’t know about you, but I started getting the feeling that my store loyalty cards were conspiring with the gum wrappers and outdated receipts to stage a mutiny in my purse. Something had to be done.
So, one day while I was cleaning out my purse so I could mark that task off my Weekly Plan, I had the slightly brilliant idea of putting all those cards on their own key ring.
Duh! Why didn’t I think of this before?!?
I grabbed a hole punch, an empty ring, and the countless cards that were shoved into the little zipper pouch where I had tried unsuccessfully to corral them. I started punching holes and threading them onto the loop. Easy!
Now, I don’t have to carry around a key chain with two keys and forty-eight store cards. I don’t have to search the bottom of my purse while a grumbling line forms behind me. I don’t have to dream about rounding up Minions or searching out evil geniuses. What a relief!
What about you? How do you organize your store loyalty cards?
