There’s one last major, high-impact area I want to work on in the kitchen. Actually, it’s lots of areas…but the same thing…sort of.
Let’s get rid of the kitchen cabinet clutter.
Just like with the flat surfaces in the kitchen, this might be a quick task for you or it might be an entire weekend-worth of work.
Don’t compare your mess, your amount of storage space, or your challenges to anybody else. Just face the reality of your own house and keep in mind that you’re doing all this work because you love your family and want to create a peaceful home.
And while you’re working, think of how much easier it will be to make dinner tonight or cook for Thanksgiving next month if you don’t have to dig through the clutter in the cabinets and drawers.
This decluttering job gets easier if it’s done regularly, so don’t worry if there are some items you think you should get rid of but can’t bring yourself to toss or give away. Determine to do this same decluttering session in a couple months, and you’ll be surprised at how much more you’ll get rid of the second (and third…and fourth…) time around.
I’ve already written a full how-to for Cleaning Out Kitchen Cabinets in 5 Easy Steps, so I’ll let you click over to read the tutorial.
My favorite tip from the list is to ask yourself, “If everything else in my kitchen was dirty, would I take this out and use it, or would I wash something else to use instead?” That question helps me make the decision to keep or toss nearly every time!
Don’t forget that if you get task finished and need something else to work on in the kitchen, you can print these cleaning and organizing lists for additional ideas. And if this chore seems like it’s too big, try some of these ideas for what to do when there’s just too much to clean.
