Laundry Room: Floor

My laundry room also serves as the most used entrance to the house, which means the floor sees lots of action. These “lovely” Ohio winters, with the snow and icky brown slush, can leave it looking quite dirty. That is, if you can see it under all of the shoes, boots, and coats. So, today I’m going to get all that “stuff” moved to the proper places (“Oh, children, come here please!”), and attack the floor with a mop.

Even if snow and icky brown slush don’t get tracked through your laundry room, you can probably find enough lint and dust around your washer and dryer to stuff a mid-sized teddy bear! If not, I’ve got some I can loan you. Let’s grab a broom and get to work. After these days of cleaning the laundry room, I just might enjoy starting my laundry tomorrow morning. Well, maybe.

Laundry Room: Washer and Dryer

It amazes me that two machines whose sole purpose is cleaning things can get so dirty! Between the dust, lint, splashes, and detergent drips my washer and dryer could use a good scrubbing of their own.

I’ll look inside the machines and wipe up any areas that need it, especially the rim around my washing machine that never gets completely dry. I’ll be sure the dryer’s lint screen is clean, and I’ll wash out the detergent compartment of the washer (it gets gross!). I will finish the job by taking a spray bottle and some towels to the tops, fronts, and sides of both machines. Ah, now I’ll have some nice clean cleaning machines!

Laundry Room: Shelves and Supplies

I am working on my laundry room during the beginning of the week for my Monthly To Do List. Today, I’m going to quickly straighten and organize the cleaning supplies and other items that are stored on the shelves.

Since my laundry room is where we usually enter the house, it’s important to keep it clean. But it’s a constant battle, and it quickly becomes a dumping ground. So, today’s task is definitely needed! After I finish with the straightening (and removing of items that don’t belong), I’ll see if there are any laundry or cleaning supplies that need added to my grocery list.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I should tell you that the photo you see here is NOT of my laundry room. But my laundry room is similar to that one. Except for the ample space. And the cute paneling. Don’t have the baskets either. Or the shelves to put them on. But I do have a dryer that’s a little like the one in the picture. And a washer, too. Cool, huh?
