Dining Room: Floors and Dust

Today’s challenge will finish us up in the dining room. If you’re still stuck on clearing out the clutter, then feel free to use your time banishing the extra “stuff” from the room. Set a timer so you don’t get overwhelmed.

Even if you can’t complete the task in one sitting, that’s alright! Consider using some Fast Fifteen sessions next week to finish up. Remember: Something is better than nothing, and all those minutes add up…..to a clean, clutter-free room!

If you’re ready to move on, we’re going to do a quick power-cleaning session today. Grab a rag or whatever you use to dust and quickly swipe the furniture. You might want to wipe off the legs of the table and chairs while you’re at it. Then, clean the floor with a vacuum, broom, or mop to get rid of the crumbs that are hiding under the table. If you have time, attack the dust that likes to gather in the corners and around the baseboards.

I know that we didn’t spend much time in this room, but don’t worry. We’ll circle back to the dining room again soon!

Dining Room: Clear Clutter

For our Monthly To Do List, we are moving into the dining room. Now, the dining room is for “dining,” right? Unless you homeschool. Then it might be for school work. Or for managing your bills if you don’t have a desk. Or for puzzles, science experiments, or sewing projects.

It’s easy to let the dining room be ready for everything except eating. So, today, let’s get the clutter out of there.

You still may want to use the space for school work, writing checks, or running the sewing machine; but consider how you can better manage the “stuff” that comes along with all those projects. Can you use a basket to contain the mail or clean off a book shelf for the kids’ school papers? Can the unfinished puzzle be put away and the games be moved to a closet?

Let’s set a timer and get to it. Who knows, you just might find some space for a fun family dinner tonight!

Living Room and Dining Room

For this week’s Monthly To Do List, I’m going to be working on some of the main living areas of my home. At the beginning of the week I’ll concentrate on the living room, then I’ll finish up the week in the dining room.

As always, adjust my challenges to fit your home. Does your basement TV room need more attention than your upstairs living room? Is your dining room table covered with six months worth of mail and school papers? Evaluate where your efforts are needed most, and use my ideas to guide you.

The point isn’t what you do, but that you’re doing something. Little by little, bit by bit. If any of the tasks seem too big for your particular situation, then grab a timer and do a Fast Fifteen, rather than trying to complete the entire room at once. Remember, something is better than nothing.

I hope that these Monthly To Do List ideas serve you as you serve your family.
