Bathrooms

We've almost made it through a week of cleaning the bathrooms! We're on the final stretch. The finish line is in sight. Yes, I realize I'm blowing this just a bit out of proportion, but doesn't it feel good to walk into a clean latrine?

To complete the bathrooms, let's clean up those floors and wipe down the baseboards today. Give the trim a quick cleaning with a damp rag or sponge, grab a mop, and throw the rugs in the washing machine. The whole room will look (and smell!) fresh as a daisy when we're done. Okay, okay, maybe not a daisy, but you get the point. And don't forget to keep the bathrooms clean by wiping them up every day as part of you Morning To Do List.

I don't wanna! I don't wanna! I don't wanna! Cleaning my shower happens to be one of my least favorite jobs. But, since we all enjoy taking showers, I suppose I should stop complaining and just get to it. I know that the whole bathroom will look much better when I'm done. So, grab whatever cleaning products or sponges you like to use, and join me in some scrubbing.

I'll keep my shower in decent shape in between these detailed cleaning sessions by giving it a spritz with a bleach and water solution every now and then. I also keep a sponge and old toothbrush on my shower caddy for some quick cleaning while I'm in the shower. My son is sure that I'm the "only person in the world" who would actually clean the shower while I'm taking one!! But, cleaning doesn't seem quite so bad when I'm standing under that lovely hot water (and my hair doesn't mind the extra conditioning time, either!).

When we started working on the bathrooms for this week's Monthly To Do List, we knew this day would come, right? This is "potty" cleaning day. I do a quick clean on the toilets every day as part of "wiping up the bathrooms" for my Morning To Do List. But today, I'll try to disinfect and clean every part of them. I'll be sure to hit the back, base, and little curvy (hard to clean) places. This is also a good time to clean the floor and wall behind the toilets. Especially if you have little boys. Enough said.

For this week's Monthly To Do List, I'm hitting the bathrooms (and it's a good thing, too!). If you've been doing my Morning To Do List with me, then this challenge shouldn't be too tough. Every morning I wipe up my bathroom sink. Today, I'm going to take it a couple steps further. I'll make sure to clean away any crud that may be around the faucet (an old toothbrush is helpful). I'll also scrub off the dried-on hairspray and any dust that has accumulated. Finally, I'll clean around the drain, as needed. This sounds like a lot, but it will only take a few minutes.

Assuming that the sink is a quick job, I'll also tackle my medicine cabinet. If you keep medicine in yours (I don't), then sort through them and responsibly discard what's expired. (Important note: Check online for information on disposing of medications, and remember your curious kids! No trips to the ER, please!) I'll quickly wipe down the shelves, get rid of any empty bottles or tubes, and organize the rest. Finish the job by shining the mirrors.

If this job is too big (or if you have too many bathrooms) for one day, feel free to break up this task to fit your schedule. For more information on my Monthly To Do List, or any of my To Do Lists, click on the "Getting Started" tab at the side of the page. Now, grab a timer and a spray bottle. Your sink is waiting for you!
