The Daily Plan-It

Faster than a speeding toddler.
More powerful than an overloaded washing machine.
Able to leap tall Lego buildings in a single bound.
Look! Over at the kitchen sink!
It's a bird. It's a plane.
It's Supermom!

Um...I wish! I want to be the perfect version of Supermom, Superwife, Superhomemaker, and Superhomeschooler. All rolled into one. But I know that I'm really much more like the geeky Clark Kent.

He fumbled through his days as a newspaper reporter for The Daily Planet while concealing his true identity behind a pair of black framed glasses. Yet, however inept he appeared to be at his day job, we all knew there was a Superman cape hidden underneath his button-up shirt. Don't ask me how he managed that one.

I think I'm a little bit like that. Minus the thick glasses and red cape. I often feel like I'm fumbling through my days as a homemaker, always struggling to either keep-up or catch-up. But hiding behind the piles of laundry, the sink full of dishes, and the unfinished To Do Lists, I'm pretty sure there's a homemaking superhero waiting to be revealed.

Wearing blue tights, having a letter "S" stitched to the front of my shirt, or being praised as the "perfect homemaker" (which I'm not) shouldn't be my goal.

Glorifying God by joyfully loving and serving my family should be my goal. Having a heart for my home and managing it efficiently should be my goal. Creating a peaceful environment where my family can relax and learn should be my goal. Proclaiming the gospel through the words I speak, the attitudes I display, and the work I do should be my goal.

If only those things were easy....but they're not. At least not for me. Trying to achieve those goals is hard work. And I often fail. One day I'm motivated and productive. The next I'm lazy and distracted.

Something has to change. I need the grace of God (of course), some accountability, and a plan. Clark Kent had The Daily Planet. I have The Daily Plan-It.

Every day (hopefully!), I'll be posting a new edition of The Daily Plan-It that will serve as a reminder and guide for keeping up with all the "stuff" that needs managed to be an effective homemaker. I don't expect it to turn you and me into instant superheroes, but I certainly hope it will provide some structure and direction to each day.

Each edition of The Daily Plan-It will include:

    -Some wisdom from the Bible,

-Morning and Daily To Do List reminders,

-Weekly To Do List tasks I want to complete,

-My Monthly To Do List focus for the day.

Now, my perfect plan for the day might not be exactly the same as your perfect plan for the day, but maybe this will give us both some encouragement for pressing on towards becoming the Gospel Homemaker God has planned for us to be.
