It’s no secret that we like our pancakes around here. And our waffles. And French toast, too. One of those things nearly always shows up on the weekly menu, usually for dinner. For the kids, they’re yummy when topped with my homemade syrup (recipe HERE). For me, they make a fairly simple meal when put together with some healthy sides.
But I remember back when all my kids were under the cut-their-own-food age, and making pancakes meant lots of fork and knife action for mommy. I would cut one kid’s food…then the next…and by the time I was finishing with the third, kid number one was ready for seconds. We’d go through that routine until everyone had gotten their fill. Except me. I was too busy flipping and cutting. Then, one day I got a genius idea that actually worked (doesn’t happen very often). I grabbed the pizza cutter out of the drawer and started rolling through the kid’s food. Wow! Why didn’t I think of it sooner?!? As the kids got a little older, they started using it for themselves. One day, they’ll cut their kid’s food with a pizza cutter, and my one brilliant idea will get passed from generation to generation. So maybe the words “genius” and “brilliant” are a little much, but at least I can finally eat a hot waffle. Now that “works for me”!

Pure genius! My kids are all grown now, so I passed this along!
Brilliant! With five kids, I have the same problem you mentioned. I think I’ll get 2 pizza slicers, one for Daddy and one for me! ; )
Great idea! I used kitchen scissors for pancakes and waffles when my kids were small, but I love the pizza cutter idea. I still have to cut some things for them and I may introduce them to doing it themselves with the pizza cutter. Thanks!
Whats funny, at our house we use the pizza cutter for pancakes, and the scissors for pizza. We have a pretty cheapo pizza cutter, adn it can’t quite get through the crust on a pizza. BUt it is much quicker on pancakes than the scissors were.
